Dear Teacher Education Students:

TaskStream is a full commercial web based application that will fulfill our needs for electronic gate assessment portfolios, personal portfolios, instructional design, and many other applications into the future. It can be found at:

http://www.taskstream.com

Here are some answers to common questions:

1. Why do we have to do this?

In order to obtain a teaching license in the state of Indiana at Purdue University then you have to do a portfolio. An electronic portfolio system makes this task much simpler. It was decided by the leadership of the School of Education that TaskStream is the system that we will use for this purpose.

2.  How do I get my account?

In order to get your account go to the Boiler Copy Center in the Purdue Memorial Union. There you can purchase a 4 year subscription for $98. This one time cost should take care of your needs for the entire initial preparation career.

If you prefer to get a shorter term subscriptions, you can purchase one directly from TaskStream at their website www.taskstream.com. You will have choices as to the length of subscription term. If you sign up online and don't have the courses you need in the "My Programs" area of TaskStream, send email to edit@purdue.edu and be sure to include your full name, and your major.

3. Did you say $98?

TaskStream is a resource for class just like a book. But unlike books where you have to buy new ones each semester, you just have to purchase your TaskStream account once! TaskStream is also not associated with the Purdue computer network, so when you graduate it doesn't go away like your career account. You keep the account for as long as you maintain an active subscription.

3. What happend to my work in the old E-Portfolio?

For artifacts that have been approved in PEP, you do NOT need to get them approved again. We have on record that they have been approved. If you need the files from the old system, email edit@purdue.edu and somone will contact you with instructions.

4. Where can I get more information?

A “Getting Started” guide has been created and put here:

http://p3t3.education.purdue.edu/Taskstream/beg_guide_students.pdf

This will give you an overview of the system and the various tools and resources that you get with your subscription.

For a more detailed guide on how to use Portfolio program, there is a guide here:

5. Where can I get help?

Help is available in the 3rd floor computer labs in BRNG hall. Please be courteous to the lab TAs as they are there mainly to help EDCI 270 students, but they will help you with your questions as well.

There is also an extensive help system inside TaskStream. If you are lost, look for a link titled “Help” and it will tell you about the page you are looking at.

Inside help, there is a button that says "Request support," you can use that form to request help.

You can also email  edit@purdue.edu your questions. Please put “TaskStream” some place in the subject line.
